Stock market close on August 14, 2023: The first trading session of the week has been very volatile for the Indian stock market. After opening the morning lower, the BSE Sensex fell by over 500 points, while the Nifty saw a decline of 170 points. But in the last trading hour, the market made a spectacular comeback from the lows. A recovery of 200 points was seen in Nifty while a recovery of 700 points was seen. At the end of today’s trade, the BSE Sensex closed up 79 points at 65,401 and the Nifty closed at 19,434 points up 6 percent.
State of the sector
In today’s trade, the market gained momentum due to buying in IT and FMCG stocks. Apart from these two sectors, stocks of media and energy sectors also witnessed a boom. While shares of banking, auto, pharma, metals, real estate sector, consumer durables, health care, oil and gas sector saw a decline. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks have also declined. Of the 30 stocks in the Sensex, 13 closed with gains and 17 closed with losses. While 23 out of 50 Nifty stocks closed higher and 27 closed lower.
