Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President A. Revanth Reddy is accused of making objectionable comments against police officers. The police have registered a case against Revanth Reddy in this regard. The police registered cases against him in Bhotpur, Jadcharla and Nagarkarnool in Mehboobnagar district on a complaint by the police officers’ union. A case has been registered against Revant Reddy under sections 153, 504, 505 (2) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A complaint against Revanth Reddy has been lodged with the District Superintendent of Police by Ganvardhan, president of the Nagarkirnool District Police Officers Association. Reddy had allegedly threatened the police officers.

Mahbub Nagar Police was alerted.

On the direction of the Superintendent of Police, a case was registered against Rivanth Reddy and two other Congress leaders, Vamishchand Reddy and Sampath Kumar, at the Nagarkarnool police station. Addressing a meeting on Monday, the TPCC chief warned the Mahbubnagar police. He had told the police officers of the district that if the Congress government is formed in 100 days, action will be taken against all of them. He also said that he had also written the names of some police officers in the diary. The next government will ‘pay them back with interest’. He made these remarks while welcoming some leaders of Mahbubnagar district to the party at the Congress headquarters Gandhi Bhavan.

“The morale of the police force will be affected.”

Associations of police officers in various parts of the state have objected to the remarks of Revanth Reddy, who is also a Member of Parliament. The Police Officers’ Association in Suryapet condemned the Congress leader’s remarks, saying it would affect the morale of the police force. The president of the association, Ramchandragode, demanded an apology from Revant Reddy for his remarks. He said that regardless of the party in power, police officers perform their duties according to the law of the land.

Initiation of criminal proceedings

Meanwhile, BRS leader Dasoju Shravan reacted strongly to Revanth Reddy’s comment. Dasoju Shravan appealed to the Director General of Police to take immediate notice and initiate criminal proceedings against Revanth Reddy. He said that Revanth Reddy is exhibiting anti-social and criminal behavior and I believe it does not reflect the guiding principles of the 125-year-old Indian National Congress.
