Four people, including a former Delhi Police officer, have been arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from a man in Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar. Officials reported this on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Vikram (48), Rakesh Kumar (48), Surinder (45) of Delhi and Pradeep Kumar Nandal (39) of Haryana, a senior police officer said. According to the police, the complainant, Joginder, alleged that on August 1, he had gone to Najafgarh on some work with his friend Surinder. Meanwhile, Vikram comes there and slaps her. Vikram also snatched the victim’s wallet and bike keys. Vikram threatened to put both of them in jail and asked them to leave the area, the officer said.

After some time, Vikram came in a car with three or four of his companions and forcibly dragged them into the car, revealing the presence of the police. According to the police, the accused threatened to implicate the duo in a false drug case and demanded Rs 20 lakh. Joginder arranged for Rs 4 lakh and handed over the money to the accused. Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harshvardhan said that during the investigation, the police scanned the CCTV footage of the area and followed the route taken by the accused extortionists. On August 9, the arrest of the accused and four other persons was received from Delhi. The officer said that extortion money has also been recovered from their possession.
