Today India is celebrating its 77th year of independence. Today, the entire country is proud of its 77-year journey wrapped in the color of the tricolor. From 1947 to 2023, India has set countless records in various fields. Be it economy or grain production or technology, India is walking shoulder to shoulder with the developed countries of the world in every field. Let’s know in this news how is the India of 2023 compared to 1947?

The average age was 32 years.

You will be surprised to know that when India became independent from the British, the average age of people here was only 32 years. That is, average Indian people can live only for 32 years. Poverty, lack of food grains and poor health system were the major reasons for this. At the same time, according to the World Bank, today in 2023, the average life expectancy in India is 70.42 years. Health services in the country today have improved since independence. With the opening of new hospitals, medical colleges and increased awareness across the country, the situation is expected to improve further in the future.

The country became an economic superpower.

After India’s independence in 1950, the per capita income of the people here was only Rs 265. Today in 2023 this number has crossed 1 lakh 70 thousand rupees. According to the SBI report, by the 100th year of independence, the per capita income of Indian people will reach Rs 15 lakh. At the time of the country’s independence, India’s GDP was only Rs 2.7 lakh crore. At the same time, in 2023, the Indian economy has crossed $3.75 trillion. Today, India is the fifth largest economy in the world. According to a recent Goldman Sachs report, India will overtake the US to become the world’s second largest economy by 2075.

Increase in literacy rate

Contrary to the claims of the British who gave a lot to India during their rule, illiteracy was at its peak when India became independent. In 1947, the country’s literacy rate was 12 percent. At the same time, today in 2023, India’s literacy rate has reached 74%. Due to the IITs, IIMs and the revolution in the education sector across the country, the students of India today are raising their flags of success all over the world. People of Indian origin are taking leadership in various big companies of the world including Google. Now other countries are also requesting India to open a branch of IIT in their country.

Top in grain production

When India became independent, famine was a serious problem in the country. An agricultural country was struggling with the problem of food grains. The situation was that wheat used for animal feed abroad was exported to India. However, the advent of the Green Revolution in the 1970s-80s changed the situation in the country. Today, India is one of the world’s leading producers of wheat, rice and coarse grains. Food grains are always in surplus here and apart from export we are also helping people in distressed countries like Afghanistan, Syria.

India is a military superpower

India, which was once a slave of the British, has now become a world superpower on the military front. According to the Global Firepower Index, the Indian Army is considered the fourth most powerful army in the world after the United States, Russia and China. Countries like UK, France have left India far behind today. The country has a military fleet ranging from advanced missiles and aircraft to weapons. Even before the beginning of the 21st century, India had also become a nuclear powered country. Apart from this, many war items like cannons, tanks and fighter planes are being manufactured in the country.
