Delhi Metro Tickets on IRCTC Portal: DMRC has brought great news for the people of Delhi. Now there is no need to stand in long queues at the station to get metro tickets. You will be able to buy Delhi Metro tickets only through the Indian Railway Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) portal. For this Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has entered into an agreement with IRCTC. In such a situation, passengers will now be able to purchase QR-based metro tickets on the IRCTC portal.

Both IRCTC and DMRC passengers will get benefit.

According to a report published in Mint, IRCTC has issued a notification stating that it has tied up with DMRC for QR code based ticket booking. The agreement has been signed on August 14, 2023. For this, IRCTC has signed an MoU. In its press release, IRCTC said that through this partnership, passengers of both DMRC and IRCTC will get benefits. This will save passengers from standing in long queues and also save time for passengers. Briefing on the matter, officials said that the agreement between IRCTC and DMRC should be seen as a ‘One India One Ticket’ initiative. Also, through this facility, IRCTC and DMRC aim to enable people to get hassle-free ticketing facility.

When will the facility start?

On the other hand, according to the language report, the officials of IRCTC and DMRC, when asked about the last date for the start of the project, replied that no period has been fixed as to when this facility will be started. But it will be worked on and launched as soon as possible. Notably, IRCTC has been working on the ‘One India One Ticket’ initiative for a long time. Through this, an attempt is being made to provide online tickets on one platform to passengers of all modes like bus, train, flight, metro etc. Under this initiative, passengers can already book train, bus and flight tickets on the IRCTC portal. Now metro ticket booking facility is also going to be included in it.

IRCTC released quarterly results-

Importantly, before announcing this partnership, IRCTC released the results for the first quarter of the current financial year. It has recorded a 5 percent decline in the company’s profit on year-on-year basis and has fallen to Rs 232.22 crore. In the same year, this number was Rs 279 crore. It is worth noting that IRCTC’s earnings through internet ticketing in various categories has been Rs 290 crore as compared to Rs 302 crore last year. On the other hand, if we talk about the tourism business of the company, it has seen an overall growth of 58% and has increased from Rs.82 crore to Rs.130 crore.
