Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Tuesday that a blueprint has been prepared to make Punjab a drug-free state by next Independence Day. Mann was addressing a gathering after unfurling the national flag at a state-level function to mark the country’s 77th Independence Day. The Chief Minister said that Punjabis were born leaders and they could not lag behind in any field but there was a need to channelize the talent of the people for which the state government was making concerted efforts. Mann said the day is not far when the state will lead the country in these efforts. Mann said that there will come a time when Punjab will lead the country and India will lead the world.

Mann vowed to make Punjab a “drug-free” state by next Independence Day. He said that the state government has prepared a blueprint against ‘Chatta’ (synthetic drug) and it will be implemented with the active support of the public. Without revealing much about the roadmap, Mann said, “We have a big plan and the results will be visible soon.” I have been getting calls from villagers who say they are ready to help. Because the whole village knows who is selling (drugs).” He said, “I can assure you that before next August 15, we will be able to eradicate the stigma of Chitta. After getting rid of the rule, he reached his native village for a function organized in memory of ISRU.

Addressing a program held at Isru village, Mann said problems like corruption and drugs flourished in the state due to the alleged patronage of previous governments.
