Earthquake : Tajikistan, located in Central Asia, was shaken by an earthquake late at night. Earthquake tremors were felt here at 2.56 pm. According to the seismological center, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.2 on the Richter scale. However, there is no news of any loss of life or property due to the earthquake.

Why do earthquakes happen?

Actually, the earth is basically made up of four layers, which are called inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. The crust and upper mantle are called the lithosphere. These are 50 km thick layers, called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates keep moving, rotating, sliding. These plates usually move about 4-5 mm out of place every year. They can move horizontally and vertically from their position. In this configuration, sometimes one plate moves closer to another plate and sometimes moves away. During this time sometimes these plates collide with each other. In such a situation, an earthquake occurs and the earth shakes. These plates are about 30-50 km below the surface.

How to defend?

If there is a sudden earthquake, get out of the house into the open. If you are trapped at home, hide under a bed or a sturdy table. You can also protect yourself by standing in the corners of the house. Do not use the elevator during an earthquake at all. Move to an open area away from trees and power lines. Apart from this, earthquake resistant houses are equally important. Although it is not very expensive but due to lack of awareness among people, it is often neglected.
