The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed the anticipatory bail granted to businessman and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra in the money laundering case. The ED challenged the bail granted to Vadra by the trial court in the Delhi High Court, claiming non-compliance with bail conditions. The counsel appearing for the ED said that Vadra had violated the bail conditions.

The court gave two weeks’ time.

ED’s counsel told the court that he will file an additional affidavit stating that Vadra has not complied with the bail conditions. The lawyer asked the court for some time to file the affidavit, on which the court granted him two weeks. The court will next hear the matter in the month of September.

ED had sought custody.

Earlier, the ED had said that it wanted to interrogate Robert Vadra in custody. The agency alleged that Money Trail was directly linked to Vadra but that he was not cooperating with the probe. Vadra is accused of money laundering in buying properties worth over Rs 17 crore in London. The matter is being investigated under PMLA.

On the other hand, Vadra’s lawyer has completely rejected the allegations of ED. Whenever called by the ED, Vadra appeared before the agency and cooperated, the lawyer said. Vadra says there is not a single instance of their non-cooperation. Nor is there any risk of evidence tampering as the ED has already seized all the documents related to the case.
