Tenants dream home will soon come true! The government is going to launch a new scheme for urban areas.

New Housing Scheme: On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of a new housing scheme, giving good news to the large rental population in cities. In his address to the nation, PM Modi said that his government is going to launch a new scheme soon for the country’s middle class who live in rented houses in cities. This will fulfill the dream of people to build their own house and also give them relief from the high interest rate of the bank.

Govt to start subsidy scheme on interest – PM Modi

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the PM said that the country has a large population living in rented houses in urban areas. In such a situation, the government is about to launch an interest subsidy scheme for middle-class families to fulfill their dream of owning a house. He said that our government has decided that we will help millions of families in the country to buy houses. For this, the government is soon going to launch a scheme for loan interest relief. This will directly benefit families living in rent houses, slums and unauthorized colonies. Along with this, he said that the government will start this scheme as soon as possible.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) is being run.

The central government is already running the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) scheme for poor and middle-class families living in urban areas. The scheme was launched on 25 June 2015. Under this scheme, fully equipped houses are provided at low cost to eligible beneficiaries in urban areas across the country.

According to data released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the government has sanctioned a total of 118.90 lakh houses in the state and union territories till July 31, 2023. Out of this 76.02 lakh houses have been given to the beneficiaries and the rest are in progress. It is worth noting that under the credit linked subsidy scheme of PMAY-U, the poor section of the country gets 6.5% interest rate waiver. In such a situation, the beneficiaries can get a total benefit of Rs 2.67 lakh per household.
