World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has arrived in Gandhinagar, Gujarat to attend the Ministry of AYUSH and WHO Global Summit. The AYUSH Ministry welcomed Tedros to the conference in Gandhinagar. It is the world’s largest conference to discuss the use of traditional medicine and its future. On this occasion, PM Modi also welcomed Adnom in a special way.

The Ministry of AYUSH shared a video of Tedros Adhanom performing the Gujarati dance Dandiya on the X platform. Reposting the video, PM Modi wrote – “My good friend Tulsi Bhai is ready to join Navratri festival! Dr. Tedros, welcome to India. Tell PM Modi during a conference in 2022. Named Tedros Tulsi.

Conference on August 17-18

The ‘Traditional Medicine Global Summit’ will be organized by WHO and the Ministry of Ayush on August 17-18 in Gandhinagar. The convention is being organized at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar. The conference will be attended by G20 Health Ministers, WHO Regional Directors and eminent scientists, physicians and members of various organizations.

Launched in 2022.

WHO had established the Global Center for Traditional Medicine in 2022 in collaboration with the Government of India. The Center is a collaborative project of Ministry of AYUSH, India and WHO. It is the first and only global center of traditional medicine in the world.
