Govt implements three new LTC rules for central employees, know what will be the benefit?

New LTC Rules for Employees: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has informed about three new rules for central employees. According to the notification issued by the Department of Dopt, new rules have been issued regarding the cost of food during rail travel and booking of tickets at government expense in relation to LTC.

The salaries of government employees are paid by the central government under the 7th Pay Commission. Also, the rule of LTC for these employees is fixed as per the Central Civil Services (Essential Travel Concession) Act, 1988. Here is the information about the new rules of DoPT.

Food charges during train journey

The notification issued by the DoPT on August 10 said that employees will now be allowed to claim reimbursement of in-train meal charges for the purpose of Essential Travel Concession (LTC). DoPT said that wherever employees travel by train under LTC and opt for railway catering, they will be reimbursed.

Air ticket booking rules

If an air ticket is booked under LTC and has to be canceled for any reason, the cancellation charges imposed by the airlines, agent or platform will also be paid.

Booking of air tickets through three registered travel agents

The DOPT has decided that government employees who are not entitled to travel by air need not book tickets through the three travel agencies IRCTC, BLCL and ATT. Bus or train fare will apply for the shortest route. On cancellation of ticket here, the cancellation charge will be borne by the employee.
