Violence broke out in Maharashtra’s Jalna over Maratha reservation

Politics has heated up once again over the Maratha reservation in Maharashtra. There is a political upheaval in the state over Jalana violence. NCP president Sharad Pawar has reached Jalna to meet the injured. Therefore, Uddhav Thackeray will also reach Jalna by this evening and inquire about the condition of the injured. Let me tell you that there was massive violence in Jalna on Friday. Miscreants set fire to several vehicles. At the same time, many protestors were injured in the police baton charge.

What did Sharad Pawar say to the protesters?

Now amidst all this, Sharad Pawar has also reached Jalna and met the protesters. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar said that the baton charge by the police was wrong. Everyone has the right to protest peacefully. Pawar said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s son Udin Raje Bhosale is also with us. Here is my solution. After Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray will also go to Jalna this evening. Thackeray will meet those injured in police lathi charge on people protesting for Maratha reservation.

Where did the commotion start?
In fact, since August 29, the protesters were on fast demanding Maratha reservation. The health of the hunger strikers was deteriorating after which the police arrived to wake them up. Meanwhile, the dispute escalated and the police had to resort to lathi charge, after which violence erupted. The agitators blocked the highway and set several vehicles on fire. He also threw heavy stones. Many police officers were also injured in this. The impact of the bandh is being seen in Ahmednagar Bed and several other districts of Maharashtra in protest against lathi charge.

Maratha reservation in Maharashtra has been demanded for a long time.
Let us tell you that the demand for Maratha reservation in Maharashtra has been rising for a long time. After which in the year 2018, the Maharashtra government announced 16% reservation in government jobs and education. But the Maharashtra government’s decision was challenged in the Bombay High Court and in June 2019, the high court reduced it to 12 per cent in education and 13 per cent in jobs. But when the matter went to the Supreme Court, the highest court of the country referred the matter to the Constitution Bench and then the Maratha reservation was cancelled. The Maharashtra government had also filed a review petition in the Supreme Court, but that too was rejected by the Supreme Court this year. Now the reason for controversy is that people of Maratha community are demanding reservation and according to Supreme Court they cannot be given reservation as it is more than 50% reservation limit.
