Modi is holding bilateral talks with several leaders arriving in Delhi for the G20 summit. On Friday, he spoke to US President Joe Biden, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the leaders of Mauritius. On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi spoke to leaders of several other countries, including the UK and Japan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held bilateral talks with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Maloney, in which he praised Italy for joining the Global Biofuels Alliance and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor partnership. Prime Minister Modi also appreciated Italy’s support for India’s G20 chairmanship, according to an official statement. According to the statement, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Italy. They also reviewed the progress in various areas of the India-Italy strategic partnership and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as defense and new emerging technologies.

The two leaders expressed the need for the G7 and G20 to work together for the greater global good, the statement said.Prime Minister Maloney congratulated Modi for the successful conduct of the G20 summit. In a post on ‘X’, PM Modi wrote, “My meeting with Prime Minister Georgia Maloney was excellent. Our discussions covered trade, commerce, defence, emerging technology and other areas. India and Italy are global leaders. We will continue to work together for prosperity.” This is Prime Minister Maloney’s second visit to India after his official visit in March this year. During the previous visit, the bilateral relationship was elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.
