Jaipur: In protest against higher VAT on fuel in Rajasthan, petrol pump operators across the state will remain shut for two days from 10 am to 6 pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association state president Rajinder Singh Bhatti said the decision was taken in protest against high value added tax (VAT) on fuel in the state. He said that on Wednesday and Thursday, petrol pumps across the state will remain closed from 10 am to 6 pm.

Demand to lose weight

Bhati threatened an indefinite strike from September 15 if the state government failed to act on the issue. “The higher VAT has not only affected the pump operators but also the public,” he said. We have been repeatedly demanding the state government to reduce VAT but the issue has not been addressed.

Petrol Rs 112.74 per liter in Sriganganagar

Let us tell you that even though petrol and diesel prices have been skyrocketing for a long time, the problems are most acute in Rajasthan. Sriganganagar district of the state has the highest petrol prices in the country. Here, the price of one liter of petrol is Rs 112.74, while the price of diesel is Rs 97.57 per litre.
