A dress code has now been enforced for the darshan of Baba Mahakal at the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, a ban has been imposed on going there by wearing specific clothes. General devotees will be allowed to enter the temple sanctum only in dress code. Men have to wear dhoti sola while women have to wear saree.

Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple The meeting of the management committee was held in the control room of Mahakal Lok under the chairmanship of Collector Kumar Prashotham. In this meeting, no decision could be taken regarding the opening of the Dargah, but it was decided to enforce a dress code for entering the Haram. Apart from this, it has also been decided to provide free entry to the residents of Ujjain for Bhasma Aarti once a week. Collector Kumar Prashotham, temple administrator Sandeep Soni, SP Sachin Sharma, Mahanirwani Mahant Vineethgiri, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal were present in the meeting of the Mahakal Temple Management Committee.

Free entry for Ujjain residents in Bhasma Aarti

In the meeting which lasted for about an hour, no decision could be taken regarding the opening of the dargah, which had been closed for two and a half months, but two important decisions were taken. Now it will be mandatory to wear dhoti-sola for men and saree for women in the mausoleum of Mahakal Mandir. In such a situation, entry in other clothes other than sari and dhoti kurta has been banned. Also, for the people of Ujjain city, 300 to 400 devotees will get free entry in Bhasma Aarti on Tuesday. Collector Kumar Prashotham said a decision to open the shrine would be taken after a week. However, since two to two and a half lakh people are visiting the temple every day, it is not possible to allow everyone to enter the temple.
