IMD Alert: Rains wreak havoc in Gujarat, flood risk increased, red alert issued

A red alert has been issued for rain in Gujarat.

Gujarat: Incessant rain has created a flood-like situation in the state and the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain on Monday as well. In view of reports of floods in several villages of Narmada district due to rain, the Gujarat administration has issued a notification to keep all schools and colleges closed. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department on Sunday issued a ‘red’ alert for Gujarat, predicting “heavy to very heavy rainfall” from September 17 to 18. The IMD also issued an ‘orange’ alert for the state on September 19. The IMD wrote… #Gujarat region under orange alert for heavy rainfall, with possibility of very heavy rainfall (more than 204.4 mm) on 19 September.”

Due to heavy rain in Panch Mahal, rail traffic was disrupted due to waterlogging at Godhra railway station. There was also flood water on the railway tracks which was removed. On the other hand, due to the heavy rain in Bayad and Malpur, there is a risk of flooding due to the rising water level in the rivers. There is a lot of water on the crossway going to Satba from Gabat area of ​​Tehsil Bayad. More than 50 villages from Gabbat to Satba have been cut off due to waterlogging on the crossway. More than three feet of water is flowing over the causeway. Sathamba Police are alerting people on the causeway to be safe. Access to motorists or pedestrians traveling on the causeway is closed.
