The Ministry of Finance has issued a notification on 31 March 2023 stating that Aadhaar and PAN are now mandatory for investing in small savings schemes like PPF, SSY, NSC etc. In such a situation all accounts opened after April 1, 2023 were required to update this information. If this information is not updated in accounts opened before April 1, the deadline for updating it has been extended to September 30. Thereafter, such accounts will be frozen from October 1 and will be reactivated even after entering the Aadhaar PEN details.
This will be a loss in case of account freeze.
Post Office will freeze such accounts if you do not enter Aadhaar information in the account. In such a case, consumers may have to bear heavy losses. Once the account is frozen, you will not be able to deposit money into the SSY or PPF account. Also, the government will not give you the benefit of interest on this type of account.
