Rejecting an alliance with the BJP, Ibrahim said that despite being the elected head of the state, the party did not consult him before joining hands with the BJP. “I am keeping my options open,” he said.

Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular) president CM Ibrahim has expressed his displeasure over not consulting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the party’s alliance and said he was keeping his options open. Rejecting an alliance with the BJP, Ibrahim said that despite being the elected head of the state, the party did not consult him before joining hands with the BJP. “I have kept my options open,” he said, adding, however, that he was a president-elect and thus would not leave the party. He said that HD Kumaraswamy is like my younger brother and Deve Gowda is like my father and I respect them.

With that he said that I am sad that Kumaraswamy met Amit Shah. Any decision of any party is taken by the party president. Deve Gowda’s leadership is the oldest in India. He said that BJP should have come to Deve Gowda. I am sad that Deve Gowda had to join BJP. Kumaraswamy said that he has not told anything to the Speaker. Nothing should be hidden in politics. If you are in alliance with BJP, who accepted whom?

CM Ibrahim also said that if you have power then there is no need to ask anything from you. If we wanted to join the BJP, I would have joined long ago when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister and offered me the ministry. We are not taking anything personal. We respect each other. He said that I respect PM Modi and Amit Shah. I am still the party president. I am an elected president. He said that after the alliance meeting in Delhi, JD(S) leader KA Thippeeswamy called him to update him on the progress.
