Principal Secretary to Prime Minister PK Mishra chaired a meeting on Wednesday and reviewed preparations for the G20 Virtual Summit and ‘Voice of Global South Summit 2.0’. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the meeting also reviewed the ‘G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration’ and Mishra said that a committee would be formed to regularly monitor its implementation. A high-level monitoring system will be established. As part of these efforts, it is proposed to organize a series of seven webinars to be led by the concerned ministries and attended by all relevant departments, the statement said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the initiative in his remarks during the summit in New Delhi in September. Mishra said that this is the first time that a country will hold such a virtual summit after the central summit. In the meeting, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra briefed the Principal Secretary about preparations for the second ‘Voice of Global South Summit’ to be held in November, the statement said. The meeting was also attended by Vice President of Niti Aayog, G20 Sherpa, Chief Convener of G20 and senior officers of Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Economic Affairs and Niti Aayog.
