The local stock market also witnessed bearish trend on Thursday. The stock market opened in the red. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex fell 318 points to 63,730 as the market opened at 9.15 am this morning. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Index Nifty was also seen trading down 96.75 points at 19025.40 points. As the market opened today, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HCL Technologies were the top gainers on the Nifty, while Tech Mahindra, Hindalco, M&M, Bajaj Finsro and HD FC Bank was in loss.

Auto, capital goods, pharma, power index, IT and metal sectors witnessed declines of one to two percent. There are also signs of decline in the Asian market. The market here has declined by about 2 percent.

Huge ruckus at the pre-opening

In the pre-opening, the stock market showed a sharp rise at the opening but took a steep dive the next moment. At 9 am today, the BSE Sensex jumped 475 points to 64524.06, but the next moment at 9.01 am, it fell 134 points and was seen trading at 63914.86. Similarly, the NSE (National Stock Exchange) Nifty also opened up 14.50 points at 19136.65 but immediately declined by 22 points to trade at 19099.30.

In the last session i.e. Wednesday, the share market also closed with a huge fall. The BSE Sensex fell 522.82, or 0.81 percent, to 64,049.06 points and the NSE Nifty shed 159.60 points, or 0.83 percent, to 19,122.15.
