The issue of Maratha reservation has created a stir in Maharashtra politics. There are continuous reports of vandalism and burning of houses of politicians, government offices and government properties in several parts of the state. Meanwhile, Manoj Jarangay Patil, who is now leading the Maratha reservation movement, has given a big ultimatum to the Maharashtra government on the reservation issue. Jarange has asked the government to call a special meeting on Wednesday itself and take a decision on reservation.

If there is no decision

Manoj Jarange Patil, the leader of the Maratha reservation movement, has said that if the decision to call a special meeting and reservation is not taken by tonight, they will release water from tomorrow. Patil warned the government not to harass the Maratha protesters, otherwise they themselves would sit on the road. If a case is registered against the poor Maratha boys, I myself will sit on a dharna outside the collector’s office. Jarange even said that if I come to bed, you will know what the Marathas are, whatever decisions the government has taken so far are not acceptable to me.

Working on a war footing – Shinde

On the news of ongoing protests and violence for Maratha reservation in the state, CM Eknath Shinde said that our government is trying to maintain law and order in the state. The government is paying close attention to those who are trying to incite and disrupt law and order in the state. It is the duty of the government to provide Maratha reservation which is fully verified and within the ambit of law. Shinde said that we are working on a war footing. The government is positive about giving reservation to Marathas.

Fadnavis warned.
