Toxic smog has made breathing difficult in Delhi-NCR. The increasing level of pollution in and around Delhi is becoming alarming. In view of this, the district administration in Gurugram has issued orders to close all government and private schools up to the primary level. In view of increasing pollution, these orders have been issued so that small children do not face any problem.

Classes up to fifth suspended

The Gurugram administration has ordered the suspension of classes from nursery to class 5. District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav issued an order in this regard on Monday. To ensure that students’ studies are not disrupted, schools have been ordered to continue teaching online. This order will be applicable to all private and government educational institutions of the district from November 7 and will remain in force until further orders.

AQI in Gurugram is in severe category

DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said that the situation has reached the stage of Grade 4 due to continuous increase in Air Quality Index (AQI). Earlier, the Haryana government had asked the district deputy commissioners of NCR to review the situation in their districts and decide to close schools. The air quality index in some districts, including Gurugram, has been in the ‘severe’ category for the past few days. Delhi-NCR recorded pollution levels around seven to eight times higher than the safe limit set by the government on Monday morning. For the seventh day in a row, the region was covered in toxic haze.
