Shimla. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhon Singh Sukhu on Sunday celebrated Diwali with children at Girls Ashram Tutikundi in Shimla and distributed sweets, fruits and crackers among them. Sukhu returned to Shimla on Saturday after undergoing treatment for 15 days at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.

According to an official statement, the Chief Minister said that the present state government has made a law to give orphans the status of children of the state. He said that so far 4,000 orphans have been issued eligibility certificates in the state, with various benefits like maintenance till the age of 27, financial assistance for education, housing, clothing, festival allowance etc. Benefits are provided.

The Chief Minister told the children that you are not without parents. The state government is your mother and father. Therefore, as the head of state, I have come to celebrate Diwali with you. May the festival of Diwali bring joy in your life and the state government is working with the same vision. Face challenges in life with courage because challenges build confidence and give direction to life.

He said that in the coming time the state government is also going to make a scheme for single women and deaf and dumb children. State Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Colonel Dhani Ramshindel said that the state government will construct two state-of-the-art ashrams for orphans at Jwalamukhi and Sundernagar.
