Two men, Ghulam Hasan Chauhan (60) and Bhabhi Chand (57), were returning home from their fields late at night when they were attacked by a bear in Bhatta and Guarin villages of Chitru area, the official said.

Jammu. In separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, two persons were seriously injured after being attacked by a black bear. Officials reported this on Sunday. Two men, Ghulam Hasan Chauhan (60) and Bhabhi Chand (57), were returning home from their fields late at night when they were attacked by a bear in Bhatta and Guarin villages of Chitru area, the official said.

He said that after the attack, the bears went to the nearby forests. The injured were taken to the district hospital, from where Chand was referred to the district Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for special treatment, the official said. After the incident, wildlife department officials visited both the villages. Officials said traps have been set to catch the bears.
