NMC NEET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria: The National Medical Commission has revised the NEET UG 2024 eligibility criteria. As per the revised rules, candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as additional subjects in their 12th standard will be eligible to appear in the Medical Entrance Test. The NMC said in a public notice issued on Wednesday that the decision will also apply to students whose applications were rejected earlier.

Let us tell you that as per the pre-qualification to appear in the NEET exam, the applying candidates were required to study Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects. Let us tell you that the decision to update the syllabus was taken by the National Medical Commission (NMC) after considering the New Education Policy (NEP) in its meeting held in the month of June.

The decision to revise the eligibility criteria was taken after considering the New Education Policy (NEP) – 2020. According to the meeting held in June, it was decided to modify the earlier procedure of the erstwhile Medical Council of India by allowing candidates to study essential subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology along with English.

Earlier students had to study 2 years of regular/continuous/coterminous subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology along with English and practical in 11th and 12th standard. This two-year study was to be completed by regular schools and not by open schools or private candidates. Further, Biology/Biotechnology or any other required subject cannot be completed as an additional subject after passing 12th. However, the new order issued by the commission has completely reversed this.
