Bengaluru: The payload ‘Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment’ aboard India’s Aditya-L1 satellite has started functioning. Informing about this on Saturday, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that it is functioning as normal. ISRO successfully launched the Aditya-L1 spacecraft from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on September 2. According to the space agency, ‘Aditya-L1’ is the first space observatory to study the Sun. It is studying the Sun from the halo around the Lagrangian point ‘L1’, about 1.5 million km from Earth.

SWIS was activated on 2 November 2023.

‘Aditya L1’ will conduct various scientific studies to learn the secrets of the Sun and will also send its images back to Earth for analysis. The Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX) consists of 2 state-of-the-art instruments Solar Wind Ion Spectrometer (SWIS) and Superthermal and Energetic Particle Spectrometer (STEPS), ISRO said in a statement. The STEPS tool launched on September 10, 2023. The SWIS instrument was activated on November 2, 2023 and has performed well. According to ISRO, the instrument has successfully measured ions in the solar wind, particularly protons and alpha particles.

ISRO continues to give good news.

Let us tell you that in the last few months, ISRO has given the country one good news after another. Prior to the launch of Aditya L1, India had become the first country to perform a soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole when Chandrayaan 3 successfully landed at the South Pole. Apart from this, from time to time ISRO has also created records in launching satellites. Let us tell you that it was established on August 15, 1969 and since then this agency has been engaged in creating new models.
