Assembly Election Results: The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form the government in three of the assembly elections in five states. Party leaders claim that because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s face and his guarantee, the people voted overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP, due to which the key to power has come to the hands of the BJP. But with this victory comes the biggest challenge for the ruling BJP at the centre. And the challenge is to fulfill the election promises that the party made to the people to get power.
It will not be easy to fulfill the plans and promises on the basis of which the BJP was able to win power in the three states as there are many contradictions. A promise to provide LPG cylinders at particularly cheap rates and to double the amount given under the Prime Minister Kisan Saman Nidhi Yojana. In fact, both of these are projects of the central government and there is a BJP-led government at the center as well. At present, the central government is providing cylinders for Rs 600 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjala Yojana. Therefore, under the Prime Minister Kisan Saman Yojana, farmers are being given an annual assistance of Rs 6000 in three installments.
But in Rajasthan, BJP has promised to give cylinders for Rs 450 to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjala Yojana. In Madhya Pradesh too, BJP has come to power by promising to provide cylinders at Rs 450 in its manifesto. While in Chhattisgarh it will be made available for Rs.500. In such a case, the question arises whether the beneficiaries of Ujola scheme in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will have to pay Rs 450 and the beneficiaries in other states of the country will have to pay Rs 150 or Rs 600 more for refilling the cylinder.
Similar is the situation with Prime Minister Kisan Saman Nidhi Yojana. Modi government is giving Rs 6000 annually to farmers under this scheme. While in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has promised to increase this amount to Rs 12,000 per year. Now the question arises whether only the farmers of these two states will get 12 thousand rupees annually or the farmers of the entire country?
Obviously, if the beneficiaries of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and other states are discriminated against, people’s resentment against the ruling party may increase. In such a situation, the question arises whether the Modi government will increase the amount of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Saman Yojana from the current Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 for the benefiting farmers of the entire country. Also, will the LPG cylinder price be further reduced by Rs 150 for the beneficiaries of the Ujola scheme to benefit the beneficiaries across the country? In such a situation, BJP’s headache is going to increase with these election promises. However, it is expected that announcements in this regard can be made in the interim budget to be presented on February 1, 2024.
Apart from these two promises in Rajasthan, the BJP has also promised government jobs to 2.5 lakh youth and a scooter to a girl student who clears her 12th exam in the next 5 years. Apart from this, girls from poor families will be given free education from KG to PG. There is a promise to increase the amount given under the Ladli Brahmin scheme, which increases the amount given to those who win elections in Madhya Pradesh from the current Rs 1,250 to Rs 3,000 per month. So under the Mehtri Vandan scheme in Chhattisgarh, an annual assistance of Rs 12,000 will be given to married women. Apart from this, under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Krishi Mazdoor Yojana, farmers have been promised Rs 10,000 per year when the government is formed. The party has also promised to provide one lakh government jobs.
