BJP MP Ramesh Budhuri has regretted his ‘objectionable’ remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Danish Ali during the Lok Sabha session on September 21. Sources have reported this. During the Privileges Committee meeting of the Lok Sabha today, the two leaders were heard separately. Bidhuri also said that Union Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed regret in the House over the statements of the BJP MP.

The committee had summoned Ramesh Budhuri (for using anti-Muslim slurs) and Danish Ali (for misbehaving during the debate on Chandrayaan-2 in the House) to give oral evidence on December 7. Ramesh Budhuri, while speaking in the Lok Sabha on September 21 during a debate on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, made some derogatory remarks targeting BSP member Danish Ali, which were later expunged from the record. Then Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that he had not heard the comments and urged the Chairman to remove them from the proceedings if they had hurt the opposition members.

Congress member K Suresh, who was the chairperson, said he had already instructed officials to remove the comments. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had in September referred MPs’ complaints to the Privileges Committee over Budhuri’s use of objectionable words against Danish Ali. While Ali and several other opposition MPs, including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and DMK’s Kanni Muzzi, demanded action against Bidhuri, several BJP MPs such as Nishikant Dubey said that the BSP member had “Incited” South Delhi Member of Parliament and Prime Minister. Made a derogatory comment. Against Narendra Modi
