In an interview to Humans of Bombay, Manoj Bajpayee said, ‘People used to say that I am nobody’s business, but I never paid attention to what anyone said. I was an outsider. Then I started working on my Hindi and English. I then applied for admission to the National School of Drama but was rejected three times. I started having suicidal thoughts. At that time my friends slept near me. Never left me alone.

Before entering Bollywood, Manoj Bajpayee used to live in a chawl with his five friends. He said, ‘I rented a chawl with 5 friends and started looking for work, but did not find any role. Once, an assistant director tore up my photo and then I lost 3 projects in one day. Even after the first shot I was asked to get out. I didn’t fit the hero’s face so they thought I would never make it to the big screen.

In the first film, the role was only one minute
In the year 1994, Manoj Bajpayee started his career with the movie ‘Darohakal’. He had only a minute role in it. In the year 1998, he got the movie ‘Satya’. He became famous by playing the role of Bhikhu Mahatre in it. Manoj Bajpayee never looked back after that. He has expanded his acting skills in films like ‘Shoal’, ‘Panjar’, ‘Aks’, ‘Raj Neeti’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Satyamyu Jeete’ and ‘Saarf Ek Banda Kofi Hai’.
