Area: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the second Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, Union Territory Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha expressed hope that the rail link between Kashmir and Kanyakumari could be started by the beginning of next year. Attending a program in Katra, Union Minister Jitendra Singh congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for getting the second Vande Bharat train as a New Year gift. Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra Singh said that this was possible only because of Modi’s determination to work for the all-round development of the region.

According to officials, the 111-km under-construction Katra-Banhal section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) could be completed within the next four months.

Before flagging off, Sinha said, “Today the Prime Minister flagged off the Vande Bharat train from Shri Mata Vishnu Devi to New Delhi at Katra. This train is one of the 6 Vande Bharat trains flagged off by the Prime Minister. “This will be the second Vande Bharat train for Jammu and Kashmir. It reflects Modi’s determination to develop the Union Territory,” the Lt. Governor said after August 2019. And rail connectivity between the rest of the country has seen improvement.

The first Vande Bharat train started from Katra in 2019.

On this occasion, he said, “The first Vande Bharat train was flagged off between Katra and New Delhi in October 2019 and so far 94 lakh pilgrims have visited the Vishnu Devi temple and by the end of this year, The number has increased to 95 lakhs. Highest in last 10 years. Sinha said that the work of upgrading Jammu, Budgam and Udhampur railway stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme at a cost of Rs 6003 crore is going on fast. .
