Amid growing winters, pollution is at its peak in the national capital Delhi as well. Despite the implementation of GRAP-3 and various measures taken by the authorities, Delhi’s climate has crossed the threshold of the critical category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in several areas of Delhi reached the ‘severe’ category on Sunday.

What area is the AQI in?

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, AQI is 425 in Anand Vihar, 425 in Dwarka-Sector 8, 426 in RK Puram, 431 in Mandka. The air quality index is in the ‘severe’ category. According to the meteorological department, it is likely to be hot for the next two days. A significant increase in AQI has been observed during the last two days. Delhi’s AQI was recorded at critical level on Sunday morning as well.

Increase in Corona cases in Delhi

Meanwhile, 11 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Delhi on Saturday, while seven patients recovered. At present, the number of active corona patients in Delhi is 51 and till now the total number of patients has reached 20,14,467. However, no death due to Corona has been confirmed in Delhi this season. Ever since Corona came, its forms have been changing from time to time.

The issue of new variant of Corona JN.1 has come up in Delhi. However, the patient recovered after treatment. Experts say that the infection of the new variant is likely to increase in the coming days. It may replace the old type, but it is not making patients seriously ill.
