RBI Rs 2000 Note: Reserve Bank of India has given important information about discontinued Rs.2000 notes. Even after the demonetisation of Rs 2000 notes 8 months ago, 100 per cent of the notes have not yet been withdrawn and people are still holding Rs 9330 crore notes. In such a situation, out of total Rs 2000 notes, RBI has been able to recover a total of 97.38% notes.

What percentage of Rs 2000 notes are in circulation?

On 19 May 2023, the Reserve Bank of India made a major announcement about Rs 2000 notes and took them out of circulation. A total of Rs 3.56 lakh crore worth of Rs 2000 notes were in the market at that time, which has reduced to just Rs 9,330 crore by 29 December 2023. In such a situation, a total of 2.62 percent pink notes are in circulation till the end of December. This data is released by RBI.

Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged at 19 locations.

For the convenience of the customers, the Reserve Bank has given the facility to exchange Rs 2000 notes in banks and post offices till October 8, 2023. Even after this if you are unable to change the note then no need to worry. You can exchange Rs 2000 notes which are out of circulation by visiting 19 Reserve Bank offices. RBI offices where currency exchange facility is available are New Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad , Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata. Thiruvananthapuram and Nagpur. Apart from this, you can also exchange notes by post by visiting any post office near your home.

Under the clean note policy, Rs 2000 notes were demonetised.

The Reserve Bank of India has banned Rs 2000 notes under the Clean Note Policy. These notes were introduced in November 2016 when the government decided to scrap the then Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. RBI then stopped the printing of Rs 2000 notes in the financial year 2018-19.
