Kolkata: The infighting in the Trinamool Congress that started on New Year’s Day deepened on Wednesday when a party MLA attacked the TMC leadership and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the corruption issue. Trinamool Congress MLA Manoranjan Byapari from Balagarh assembly constituency in Hooghly district, in a social media post on Wednesday morning, questioned whether there are any but thieves within the party.

What else did TMC MLA say?

The businessman questioned that sand and drug mafia is accusing me of theft, murder and rape. I am accused of making millions of rupees by passing off the literary works of a late and eminent writer as my literary works. Now I am the Chief Minister. Mamata Banerjee has made me the MLA of Balagarh, my question is, if they can choose a corrupt person like me for this post, what kind of person is he? Why didn’t the Chief Minister ask about me before nominating me? So should I accept that the claim of the opposition parties that everyone in the Trinamool Congress is a thief is correct?

He signaled to leave the party.

In the social media post, he also hinted at quitting the party and appealed to the media to keep a close eye on his posts for the next few days when he will announce the next step. Without naming anyone, Byapari accused a local woman Trinamool Congress leader of unethically getting a job in a school in the district in 2017 and drawing salary for so many years without going to school for a single day.

I will take to the streets with the people – MLA

Byapari had also said that he would approach the Calcutta High Court bench of Justice Abhijeet Gangopadhyay with details of such irregularities. He said that there is nothing more powerful than democracy and I will go out on the streets with the people, I will see till the end. (Input- IANS)
