Another massacre in Manipur, four people killed while going to collect firewood in the forest

Imphal: The violence in Manipur for the past several months shows no signs of abating. Hundreds of people have been killed here. The state government is claiming to control the situation here but the reality seems to be different. Severe violence continues in many areas. People from both communities are killing people from other communities. Now in the state’s Chorachandpur district, suspected Kuki militants have killed four villagers, including a father and his son.

Four people killed

“Four villagers from Akasoi village in Bishnopur district went to collect firewood in the nearby forest areas of Chorachandpur district on Wednesday,” an Imphal police officer said on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kuki militants abducted him and then killed him. The bodies of the deceased were recovered by a police team from Kambi in Bishnopur district on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Abumcha Singh (51) and his son Anand Singh (20), Rumin Singh (38) and Dara Singh (37).

There was also a murder earlier in the year.

Earlier this month too, three people were allegedly shot dead and five injured in Thoubal district. After that curfew was again imposed in five districts of the state. After this incident, curfew was again imposed in Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnopur districts.

Violence broke out between the Kuki and Meiti communities

Let us tell you that in May, ethnic violence broke out between the majority Metis living in the Imphal Valley of Manipur and the Kuki communities living in the hilly areas. Since then there have been constant reports of murders in Manipur.
