Schools up to class 5 in Punjab closed till January 20

Chandigarh: It is very cold in the whole of North India including Punjab. Along with this, the fog is also spreading havoc. Accidents are happening on the roads. Considering the growing cold, the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has taken a big decision. The government has issued an order saying that schools up to class 5 will remain closed till January 20.

While issuing the order, the government said that schools up to class V will remain closed till January 20 in view of the growing cold in the state. While schools from sixth to twelfth standard will open only from 10 am to 3 pm. With this, classes will not be held in open spaces. Also, all arrangements will be made to keep the classroom warm.

Dense to very dense fog over North India during next 4-5 days

Issuing a warning, the Meteorological Department said that dense to very dense fog and cold conditions are likely to continue over North India during the next 4-5 days. According to the IMD forecast, the cold wave is likely to continue till January 16 in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. “Minimum temperature will be 3-7 degree Celsius over most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and 8-8 degree Celsius over many parts of South Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand,” The weather forecasting agency said. It is between 10 degrees Celsius in its daily bulletin.

IMD has issued a warning.

“They are 1 to 4 degrees Celsius below normal in many parts of northwestern and adjoining eastern India,” the IMD said. The IMD has further forecast that dense to very dense fog is expected during night and morning hours in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh till January 16. Along with this, there will be dense fog in some areas during the night of January 16 and the morning of January 17.
