Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after lengthy interrogation. He has gone to Raj Bhavan in ED custody. It is being told that Hemant Soren has also resigned from the post of Chief Minister. After some time the ED will officially arrest Soren. JMM MP Mehwa Manjhi said that currently Hemant Soren is in ED custody. The Chief Minister has gone to the Governor along with the ED team to submit his resignation. Champai Soren will be the new Chief Minister. We have enough numbers.

Coalition leaders angry with BJP

Congress MLA Deepika Pandey Singh said that we were called to the ED office and given time. After that we were insulted and asked to leave. Raj Bhavan is working as an agent of BJP. At the same time, Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay said that BJP’s corruption is not corruption. BJP’s policy and intentions can no longer be discussed. BJP has destroyed the federal structure.

After the arrival of the DGP and the IG at the Chief Minister’s residence, the commotion intensified, following which speculations of the Chief Minister’s arrest started. Earlier, ED officials on Wednesday began questioning Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence under heavy security in connection with the alleged land scam. Hemant Soren was interrogated by the ED for several hours at CM House.

On January 20, ED questioned him for more than 7 hours.

Earlier, Hemant Soren was questioned on January 20 in the same case. An officer said that the interrogation could not be completed that day. Soren was interrogated for more than seven hours that day. ED officials said Soren is being questioned as part of an investigation into a ‘major racket of illegal transfer of ownership of land by the mafia’ in Jharkhand.

Section 144 enforced near Chief Minister’s residence

Section 144 has been imposed from 9 am to 10 pm in important places of the capital Ranchi and within 100 meters of the Chief Minister’s residence. No one is allowed to come and go here. A large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed. Along with this, a large number of police are also present at the spot.

Protest by JMM MLAs

Before the ED began questioning the chief minister, MLAs from the JMM-led alliance reached his residence here on Wednesday morning. Health Minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta said Soren was cooperating with the investigation. He also said that it is the duty of constitutional institutions to conduct such investigations properly. State Agriculture Minister Badal Patralek said that all the MLAs are with the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, JMM supporters protested against the ED action against Soren at the nearby Morhabadi ground and some other places. A protester said that the ED is deliberately troubling our Chief Minister on the instructions of the Centre.
