India sees an increase in corruption in 2023 compared to 2022.

New Delhi: Transparency International’s corruption report of 180 countries was released on Tuesday. According to the report, corruption in India has increased in 2023 compared to 2022. The organization’s report said that India has come to the 93rd position in the Corruption Perception Index in 2023, compared to 85th position a year ago in 2022. In this ranking of 180 countries, the country ranked first has the least corruption, while the country ranked 180 has the most corruption.

What is the condition of neighboring countries of India?

When it comes to India’s neighboring countries, Bhutan ranks 26th and has the least corruption in South Asia. China is ranked 76th on the list and here too corruption has increased in 2023 compared to 2022. Sri Lanka, another neighboring country of India, is ranked 115th in the list, which means it has more corruption than India. In the list, Nepal is ranked 108th, Pakistan 133rd, Bangladesh 149th and Afghanistan 162nd. Thus most of the neighboring countries except Bhutan and China have more corruption than India.

Denmark has the least corruption.

If we talk about countries with the least corruption, Denmark is at the first place. It is followed by Finland second, New Zealand third, Norway fourth and Singapore fifth. Singapore is the only Asian country to feature in the top 10 on this list. While if we talk about the top 20, apart from Singapore, only Hong Kong and Japan are from Asia. Somalia has the highest level of corruption in the world and is ranked 180th in the list. Besides Somalia, Venezuela, Syria, South Sudan, Yemen and North Korea are among the most corrupt countries in the world.
