Delhi Police has arrested an alleged member of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s active module. Officials reported this on Tuesday. This module is active in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the accused played an active role in procuring arms and ammunition from across the Line of Control (LoC). According to the police, the accused is a retired soldier. The accused is a retired soldier identified as Riyaz Ahmed.

The terrorist was plotting.

According to the Delhi Police, Riaz was sent arms and ammunition by handlers across the LoC and was involved in the terror conspiracy along with Khurshid Ahmed Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather. According to DCP Railway KPS Malhotra, special information was received from the investigating agencies of Jammu and Kashmir that Riyaz Ahmed Rather, a resident of Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, is wanted in the recently arrested terrorist module case. J&K Police recently arrested five persons from Kupwara module and recovered incriminating materials including 5 AK rifles, 5 AK magazines, 16 small AKs from their possession.

Terrorist arrested from New Delhi railway station.

The arms and ammunition were sent by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh alias Shakoor and Qazi Muhammad Khushal based in PoK. Both were operating across the border. It was further informed that the alleged Riaz Ahmed is absconding and will reach New Delhi railway station soon. A police team nabbed Riaz on the morning of January 4 from Exit Gate No. 1 of the New Delhi railway station when he was trying to run away on seeing the police. The accused said that he had boarded the Mahakushal Express from Jabalpur along with his friend Altaf and reached Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station at around 3 pm on January 3. From there he took an auto to reach New Delhi Railway Station.

Jammu and Kashmir Police

Riaz Ahmed was going somewhere else. Alleged Riaz Ahmed is suspected of taking arms and ammunition from Khurshid Ahmed Rather. Both Yusuf Rather and Ghulam Sarwar have already been arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police. Accused Riaz Ahmed and his friend Altaf retired from the Indian Army on 31 January 2023. A mobile phone and a SIM card have been recovered from his possession. Accused Riaz Ahmed has been arrested under appropriate provisions of law and the police authorities of the concerned police station of Jammu and Kashmir have been informed for further necessary action.
