ESIC gives great news to retired employees, medical benefits will be available even on higher salary

Principles of medical benefits: Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has given great news to the retired employees. The Corporation has approved a proposal to provide medical benefits to retired employees who have been withdrawn from the ESI scheme due to higher salaries. The decision was taken during the 193rd meeting of ESIC chaired by Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, the Labor Ministry said on Saturday. In this new scheme, those who have been employed under the scheme for at least 5 years after April 1, 2012 will be entitled to medical benefits. Also retired or voluntarily retired on or after 1st April 2015 with a salary of Rs.30 thousand.

AYUSH 2023 policy will also be implemented.

In this meeting, it was also decided to bring AYUSH 2023 policy for the mental and physical well-being of those under ESI. This policy will be implemented in all ESIC Centres. Under this, Panch Karma, Kushra Sutra and Ayush units will be opened in ESIC hospitals.

Medical infrastructure will grow in the North East.

According to Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav, the meeting also decided to expand medical services and infrastructure in the northeastern state and Sikkim to fulfill the Act East policy vision of the government. Rules were relaxed for setting up ESIC dispensaries, medical infrastructure, regional-sub-regional offices in these states.

ESI Healthcare Services at Zero User Charge

In the meeting, approval was given to acquire land for construction of 100-bed hospitals in Udupi, Karnataka and Idukki, Kerala. Apart from this, the construction of a 150-bed hospital in Malirkotla, Punjab has also been approved. In addition, it was decided to extend concessional facilities for non-IP people to avail ESI healthcare services at zero user charge at ESIC Medical Colleges and Hospitals in Alwar, Rajasthan and Behta in Bihar till March 31, 2025.

Benefits of ESI Scheme

The ESI scheme provides full medical care to the insured and their family members in case of medical attendance, treatment, medicines and injections, specialist consultation and hospitalization. The ESI scheme is applicable to factories and other establishments like road transport, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, newspapers, shops and educational/medical establishments employing 10 or more people.
