The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a stern warning to medical colleges and institutes not to force post-graduate students to stay in the hostels provided by them or to charge them for it, if they do so. If you do, strict action will be taken against you. . NMC has issued a notice for this. Colleges that do not comply with these instructions may face strict action such as fines, reduction of seats and withholding of admissions, the notice said.

A large amount is being charged.

In a public notice issued by the NMC, the Commission clarified about the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMIR), 2023 that “Colleges shall be required to provide reasonable residential accommodation to postgraduate students. However, no PG students will have to be accommodated in hostels. Staying will not be mandatory. The NMC added that they have received several complaints from PG students alleging that the medical college is not providing them with their own accommodation. forcing to stay in the hostel and huge amount is being charged on this account by the institute.

NMC will take action against the colleges.

The notice issued by the NMC further stated that “All medical colleges and institutes are directed to take notice of the said regulation, failing which NMC may take action as per Rules 9.1 and 9.2 of PGMER, 2023. , including financial penalties, reduction of seats, withholding of entry etc
