4.2 lakh weddings are expected across the country this season, giving the economy a boost of Rs 5.5 lakh crore.

Wedding season in India: In the current wedding season, an estimated 42 lakh weddings will take place across the country, which could give the country’s economy a boost of Rs 5.5 lakh crore. Traders Federation CAT has released this data. According to CAT, its research wing made this assessment based on discussions with traders and service providers in 30 cities across the country.

According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), during the wedding season from January 15 to July 15, there will be 4.2 lakh weddings across the country and around Rs. There will be huge cash flow in the markets across the country. CAT national general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that this wedding season, Delhi alone is likely to witness more than 4 lakh weddings, generating a turnover of around Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Last year, in the wedding season ending December 14, 2023, around 3.5 lakh weddings took place, generating a turnover of around Rs 4.25 lakh crore.

According to CAT, the expenditure per wedding in 5 lakh weddings this season may be Rs 3 lakh. While there will be around 10 lakh weddings, in which according to an estimate, up to 6 lakh rupees will be spent on each wedding. Additionally, the estimated cost of 10 lakh weddings may be Rs 10 lakh per wedding. About 10 lakh weddings will cost Rs 15 lakh per wedding. While it is estimated that 25 lakh rupees will be spent on each of the 6 lakh marriages. There will be 60,000 weddings in which each wedding is estimated to cost Rs 50 lakh and 40,000 weddings are estimated to cost more than one crore rupees. If we put all these together, it is estimated that during these six months, 4.2 lakh weddings will have a turnover of around Rs 5.5 lakh crore through wedding related purchases and services.

Parveen Khandelwal said that before the wedding season, there is a lot of business in house repairs and painting. Apart from jewellery, sarees, lehengas, chinari, furniture, readymade garments, clothes, shoes, wedding and greeting cards, dry fruits, sweets, fruits, puja wear, groceries, grains, decorative fabrics, home decorations, Electrical utilities, , and various gift items etc. are most in demand which is expected to generate great business this season. While the economy benefits due to the wedding season, a large number of people also get employment.
