Trinamool targeted BJP and Union Minister Smriti Irani

Kolkata: It seems that the police are on alert regarding the violence-hit Sandishakhli case in West Bengal. A 10-member team has been formed to investigate it. A senior officer said on Monday that the police had received only four complaints from the people of violence-hit Sandishakhli, but none of them mentioned rape or sexual harassment. The officer said that a 10-member team headed by a woman officer of DIG rank has been formed to investigate the incidents of violence there.

He assured the women of full protection and appealed to them to contact the police if they want to lodge a complaint. The officer said he had received four complaints, none of which mentioned rape or any communal issue. He said that a woman officer of SP level visited the houses in the area and spoke to the women.

What did the officer say?

He said, ‘The state government had formed a 10-member team headed by a woman officer of DIG rank. This team will start the investigation. If there is any complaint, they should come to the police. His complaint will be considered. “The state government is very concerned about the matter,” the official said. Earlier, a team of West Bengal Women’s Commission visited the affected areas of Sandishakhli and spoke to the women.

The women have accused fugitive Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his supporters of sexual harassment. Commission Chairperson Leena Gangopadhyay and another woman member interacted with several women in Sandishakhli. The National Commission for Women has also written a letter to the West Bengal government asking it to submit a report within 48 hours on Sandishakhli’s allegations.

Trinamool targeted BJP and Union Minister Smriti Irani

The Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of trying to divide the state along communal lines. TMC leader and minister Birbaha Hansda said, ‘We know that BJP wants to politicize every incident in opposition-ruled states, but Irani should take off his political glasses. From Manipur to Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, where protesting wrestlers were dragged on the streets, the Union Minister remained silent on these issues. “The women of Bengal will reject any attempt to divide them,” Hansda said.
