Arvind Kejriwal came in support of farmers

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday supported the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march and said it was wrong to jail ‘Annadata’. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s statement came after he said that he has rejected the central government’s proposal to convert Delhi’s Bawana Stadium into a prison. The central government on Monday wrote to the Delhi government to convert the Bawana stadium into a temporary jail for protesters detained during the farmers’ march on February 13, which Arvind Kejriwal has rejected.

Delhi-Punjab Govt with farmers

Aam Aadmi Party minister Kailash Gehlot said that farmers’ demands are genuine and every citizen has the right to protest peacefully. Two hours after the start of the march, when the protesters reached the Shambhu border, the Haryana police fired teargas shells at the protesters. The AAP leader said, “The central government should actually invite them for dialogue and try to find solutions to their real problems. The farmers of the country are our consumers and arrest them and treat them as such. It’s like rubbing salt in their wounds. “It will happen.” In Delhi, the AAP government expressed solidarity with the protesting farmers, even the Punjab police did not stop the protesters.

Farmers said, ‘We are not blocking the roads’.

As farmers began the Chalo Delhi march at 10 am, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandhar said the border between Punjab and Haryana looked like an international border and not a state border. “Even today we are not saying that we will block the roads, the government itself has blocked the roads for the last two or three days,” said Pandhar, general secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Singharsh Samiti.
