West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was scheduled to visit Punjab on February 21, which has been canceled in view of the ongoing farmers’ protest. During this visit, CM Mamata Banerjee was going to worship at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. But now the tour has been cancelled. CM Mamata Banerjee herself has informed about the cancellation of this visit. Canceling the visit, Mamata said, “I was supposed to visit Punjab and CM Arvind Kejriwal, but in view of the ongoing farmers’ protest, I have postponed it.”

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee postponed her visit to Punjab.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that I and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were to visit Punjab, which has been postponed in view of the ongoing farmers’ protest. I have told this to Arvind Kejriwal. I think our priority at this time should be to stand with our farmers.

Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee was going to visit Punjab as a political strategy, which has now been postponed. Earlier, Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has made it clear that TMC will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal alone. Similarly, the AAP leadership also ruled out any possibility of seat-sharing with the Congress in Punjab. In such a situation, political experts say that the proposed meeting signals the beginning of an informal alternative front, leaving the Congress and the Left Front. However, party insiders have not given any indication in this regard.

Condemnation of attack on protesting farmers

Let us tell you that the West Bengal Chief Minister’s visit to Punjab is coming at a time when farmers are demanding a law to guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for their crops. Mamata Banerjee has already expressed her solidarity with the farmers’ protest. The Chief Minister had slammed the Center for using tear gas shells to disperse farmers on the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border.
