Akasa Air, the country’s newest domestic airline, on Friday announced to start international flights from next month. The airline started its operations in the country only 19 months ago. Notably, Acasa Air has made this announcement at a time when the sector, one of the fastest growing aviation markets, has seen turmoil with the bankruptcies of GoFirst and Jet. Akasa Air has joined the ranks of major rivals IndiGo and Tata-owned Air India, Economic Times reported.

Flights to Doha will start from 28 March 2024.

According to the news, the airline will start international operations from March 28, 2024, with four weekly non-stop flights connecting Mumbai to Doha. Flight ticket booking is currently available. Return fares start at Rs 29,012. The launch of operations in Qatar marks the next phase of growth for the airline. Opening operations in Qatar is in line with the goals of the Qatar Tourism Strategy 2030, which seeks to position the country as the fastest growing tourism destination in the Middle East by 2030.

The company has high hopes.

“We are delighted to announce our international operations with the launch of Doha – our first destination for our growing network,” the company said, according to the report. The launch of four weekly flights, directly connecting Mumbai, will cater to a diverse group of travelers from both countries and facilitate tourism, trade and strengthen bilateral ties. Aqsa’s entry into Qatar marks the next stage of growth as the airline strives towards its goal of ranking among the world’s top 30 airlines by the end of the decade.
