Two more people have been arrested in the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission paper leak case.

Hamirpur. Two more people have been arrested in the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) question paper leak case. Officials reported this on Thursday. The Vigilance Department arrested Neeraj Kumar of Bhera and Som Prakash of Shimla on Wednesday night, he said. The accused had bought the question papers from Ravi Kumar, a dismissed inspector of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation.

Both of them had taken the question paper from Kumar before the exam and topped the list of the Himachal Pradesh State Secretariat Clerical Grade Exam to be held in April 2023, officials said. Along with these arrests, eight people have been arrested so far in connection with the question paper leak of Clerk Grade Exam of Himachal Pradesh Secretariat. The Vigilance Department’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) had earlier arrested six people in the case, including Kumar, key conspirator Uma Azad and Sohan, who runs a dhaba near the commission’s headquarters.

Officials had said that the accused had allegedly leaked the question papers of the Secretariat Clerk Grade Examination, the results of which are still pending. The arrests were made after the leaked question paper from his mobile phone was found. Other arrested persons include Kumar’s wife, sister and brother-in-law. He had scored well in the examination but his marks in the typing test were low.

The Hamirpur-based HPSSC was dissolved in February, two months after the December 23, 2022 paper leak. The move came after the vigilance department caught Uma Azad, a senior assistant in the commission, with solved question papers and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. Later, HPSSC was replaced by Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission (HPRCA).
