Washington: US President Joe Biden made a big statement on Russia’s claim of making anti-satellite. Joe Biden said on Friday that there is no indication that Russia has decided to deploy the anti-satellite weapon being developed. The White House has confirmed that US intelligence officials have information that Russia has acquired such a capability, although no such weapon has yet been operationally deployed.

“There is no evidence that they (Russia) have decided to do anything in space,” Biden said on Friday. The President emphasized that there is no danger to the public at this time. “What Russia is doing right now poses no nuclear threat to the United States or the people of the world,” Biden told reporters during remarks at the White House over the alleged death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Biden spoke of Russia’s potential.

Biden said that the capabilities that Russia has acquired “relate to satellites and space” and that those capabilities “could theoretically do something that could be harmful.” Biden said Russia has not yet moved forward with its plans and “I hope not.” The news prompted Mike Turner, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and Ohio Republican MP, to urge Biden this week to release information about a “serious national security threat.” (AP)
