Due to which he had a heart attack.

Proctor’s international career ended in the 1970s and 1980s due to South Africa’s isolation from the sport. He played only 7 matches for South Africa. All these were played against Australia in 1966-67 and 1969. During this time he took 41 wickets at an average of 15.02. He helped South Africa win six of their seven Test matches, while drawing one match.

He also became the coach of the South African team.

Mike Proctor is known for releasing the ball early in his chest action and pace of delivery. In addition to being the first coach of the South African team in the post-apartheid era, Mike Proctor also hailed from the English county of Gloucestershire. As coach, Mike Proctor led the South African team to the semi-finals of the 1992 Cricket World Cup. Proctor then served as an ICC match referee between 2002 and 2008.
