A picture of Rahul Gandhi is going viral with claims that he has left the Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra and joined the farmers’ movement. However, in a fact check conducted by India TV, this claim has been found to be completely misleading.

What’s going viral?

A picture of Rahul Gandhi is going viral on various social media platforms. Rahul is seen driving a tractor in the picture. By making this picture viral, it is being claimed that Rahul has left Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra and joined Kisan Movement in Delhi. A Facebook page called Just Adulting shared Rahul’s photo and wrote – “RaGa joins ‘Farmers Protest!’ But while sharing this picture of Rahul Palvi Singh A user named wrote – “Rahul Gandhi joins farmers’ protest in Delhi, Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra canceled in Jharkhand. He is flying from Jaipur to Delhi, Delhi Let’s join the protest. Rahul Gandhi Joined the protestors. Expressing solidarity with them, he assured them that we are with you. The Modi government is embarrassing democracy.

This picture of Rahul Gandhi was going viral on social media. So we decided to research this image. We first searched for news about this with the help of Google Open Search. However, we have not come across any news anywhere claiming that Rahul is involved in the farmers’ movement in Delhi. After that we took the help of Google Reverse Images. As soon as we did this, we got a news from TOI. This news story published on July 26, 2021 used the viral photo. The news reads – “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with other party MPs drove a tractor to Parliament and demanded that the three controversial agriculture laws be repealed”. It became clear that the viral picture of Rahul Gandhi is old and is being circulated with false claims.
