Mumbai: After the bill regarding Maratha reservation in Maharashtra was passed in the state assembly, now the Muslim leaders have also started raising the demand for reservation. In this context, AIMIM leader and former MLA Waris Pathan has also made a big statement under the auspices of Asaduddin Owaisi. While raising the demand for 5% Muslim reservation, Pathan said that the slogan of ‘Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas, sab ka vishwas and sab ka priyas’ of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one sentence and the saffron party is trying to educate Muslims and I don’t want to strengthen.

The Bombay High Court has also accepted our demand as legitimate.

Waris Pathan said, ‘Our demand is not wrong. We are demanding education on behalf of the 5 percent non-white Muslim community. The Bombay High Court has also accepted this demand as legitimate, then why does the Maharashtra government not follow it? We support giving reservation not only to the Maratha community but also to the Dhangar community. But why is the state government mute when it comes to reservation for us Muslims? There are many backward castes in our Muslim society.

‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas’ is the slogan of BJP.

The AIMIM leader said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talks about empowering backward Muslims, then we are asking for 5% reservation in education not on the basis of religion but on the basis of backwardness. Then why the stepmother behavior with Muslims? There is a flaw in the intentions of BJP and PM Modi towards Muslims. Just for show, they say ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikas, sab ka vishwas and sab ka dua’ for Muslims. They do not want to educate and strengthen Muslims.

‘We won’t hit the streets yet, but…’

Waris Pathan said that if a Muslim leader says something, immediate action is taken against him, whereas if BJP leaders spew venom against Muslims, no action is taken against them. He said, ‘Currently we will not take to the streets and demand Muslim reservation. This is our legitimate demand and the ball is in the court of the state government. If the state government does not agree, we will see. We have protested this issue once before and will do so again if required. Maharashtra government should listen to our legitimate demand.
